According to the chart in the February Charolais Banner, Charolais female sales in Canada for all of 2021 averaged the highest ever. Nine-hundred-and-nine lots averaged $7,934, for an increase of $2,500 per lot over the 2020 sales.
The number of animals sold was also up 180 lots from the previous year. Total gross of the 14 sales was $7.2 million, $1.8 million over the next-highest gross, in the 28 years stats have been tracked.
Helge By, publisher of the Charolais Banner, said the sales were pushed higher by many new breeders coming into the breed and some newer breeders increasing the numbers in their operations. Complete statistics can be found in the February issue of the Charolais Banner, which is available for free online at its website.
