The Canadian Charolais held its annual meeting on June 10 to 11, 2022, in Russell, Man. This was the first time the association had met in person since 2019. Kasey Phillips of Waskatenau, Alta., was re-elected as president while Shawn Airey from Rivers, Man., was selected as first vice-president. Second vice-president is Ryan Nesbit, Nestleton, Ont. Past president is Mike Elder of Coronach, Sask. Directors include Darwin Rosso, Moose Jaw, Sask.; Jeff Cavers, La Riviere, Man.; Lorne Lakusta, Andrew, Alta.; Rod McLeod, Rocky View County, Alta.; Josh Taylor, Dunsford, Ont.; and Armond Roy, St-Bernard Lacolle, Que.

The newly formed “Friends of Canadian Charolais Foundation” also held its first annual fund-raising auction in conjunction with the association’s AGM. Charolais breeders and industry leaders from across Canada generously donated genetics and services to this auction. When the final gavel dropped, the 39 lots grossed a very impressive $117,390. The foundation board would like to thank all who supported this great event.
