Shelly Ericson.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Shelly Ericson of Wetaskiwin, Alta. She passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 76 years.

Shelly was the beloved wife of Dennis Ericson and an integral part of Get-A-Long Stock Farm. In purebred circles Get-A-Long Stock Farm was well known for their Black and Red Angus herd, and of course Dennis ran Ericson Ring Services. They were part of the Hayshaker Sale Group, and it was a hayshakin’ good time. Shelly was one of many that made that sale a great event.

Luckily for me I grew up only three miles away from Dennis and Shelly and purchased my first Black Angus cattle from them. Always hard working and with a smile on her face, Shelly always made time for a visit and walk through the herd. The food was fantastic and company even better.

My favourite Dennis and Shelly story was the time I stopped in over the Christmas holidays and Dennis and Shelly were trimming their hedges going down the driveway. I asked them, “Why are you doing this now over Christmas?” and they said, “Well, we finally have time to get to it now.”

Both Dennis and Shelly were great neighbours with a passion for the Angus breed. Thank you, Shelly, for your huge smile and sunny personality. You will definitely be missed!
