Richard Meyers of Minton, Sask., was honoured during Agribition’s commercial cattle show last fall. Meyers has been raising purebred Simmentals for 50 years in Canada. He and his family started with Simmentals in 1970 with some Swiss-imported heifers and also expanded into purebred Red Angus in the early 1980s. Congratulations, Richard, on this milestone.

Welch family honoured

The Yellowhead Hereford Breeders awarded an honourary life membership to Jack and Nell Welch of Sturgeon Point Farm, Vanderhoof, B.C., at the group’s annual general meeting in January. The Welches have been dedicated Hereford breeders and belonged to the Yellowhead for 40 years. The Yellowhead also gave lifetime memberships to Maxine Bell (Vallee Creek Herefords) and Houston and Elsie Brigden (Brigden Herefords) of Quesnel, but they were unable to attend.
