Pulse Report: AGT Foods Australia wins agribusiness award

Winnipeg, October 20 (CNS) – AGT Foods Australia has won
the national award for agribusiness at the Premier of Queensland
Export Awards. The award honoured the contribution AGT has made
to the agricultural export industry in Australia. AGT exports
lentils, chickpeas, yellow peas, fababeans and broad beans from
Australia.
Fababean and barley harvest has begun in Australia. Acres
are down for both crops from last year. As well some crops
failed due to lack of moisture.

The Indian pulse industry body, IPGA, has demanded the
government supply pulses through its ration shops in order to
provide better price realization to farmers and to ensure the
country’s nutritional supply. Under the National Food Security
Law, the government provides five kilograms of subsided wheat
and rice to lower income families.
Most lentil prices in Western Canada held steady overnight,
except for a few varieties, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire.
The Eston #2 lentil dropped one cent in price to 32 cents per
pound. The Crimson #1 and #2 varieties as well dropped a cent in
price to 21 cents per pound each.
