The StatsCan survey was conducted near the end of July and released Aug. 31.
The dry, edible bean crop in Manitoba is on schedule with early-maturing varieties now being harvested and preliminary reports suggesting 2,000 pounds per acre on cranberry beans and pintos at about 1,700 lb. per acre. Overall, early yields are reporting about 1,800 lb. per acre, although those estimates will likely come down as more fields are harvested. Manitoba is expecting about 122,000 acres to be harvested this year.
