Canola crush up 8.1 per cent, soybeans down 11.6 per cent
Canadian oilseed processors crushed a record 11.37 million tonnes of canola in 2024, reported Statistics Canada. However, the Canadian soybean crush fell by 11.6 per cent in 2024 to 1.56 million tonnes.

The National Farmers Union denounced the approval of the Bunge-Viterra merger in a statement released on Jan. 17. The NFU said the multi-billion dollar deal “effectively ends competition in Canada’s agricultural commodity sector,” as it creates the world’s largest agricultural commodity trader, and it will control 40 per cent of the Canadian grain market.
Canola crush up in July, soybeans down
Statistics Canada released its crush report on Aug. 29, showing an increase in the amount of canola that was processed last month compared to the previous July. As for soybeans, its crush was significantly lower.
