Harvest operations are underway in Manitoba, according to the latest provincial crop report as of Aug. 12 noting that winter cereals and early spring grains and field peas were starting to come off the fields.
Saskatchewan crop report: Harvest nearly complete
Combining in Saskatchewan is virtually complete with the provincial report putting the harvest at 97 per cent finished overall. That's a gain of six points during the week ended Oct. 7, as parts of the province contended with rain delays.
Manitoba crop report: Most of the harvest off the field
Combining in Manitoba advanced 12 points at 85 per cent complete for the week ended Oct. 7. While some crops made great amounts of progress, others did not. The largest gains were made in the province's soybean and flax harvests as they are up 41 points apiece at 70 and 61 per cent finished respectively.
Warmer, drier October followed by colder, snowier November
The balance of October is likely to remain warmer than normal across the Canadian Prairies, but the weather could turn colder than normal in November, Weatherlogics chief scientist Scott Kehler explained.
