Soil health is on the minds of many producers these days, and for good reason – if you aren’t monitoring the health of your soil, whatever you expect to get from it may not offer the results you’d like.
At a workshop hosted by Manitoba Beef and Forage Initiatives earlier this summer, Abbey Wick, a soil health specialist at North Dakota State University, spoke about how the university uses extension to share ideas with producers, what soil health characteristics she looks for when assessing a field, managing saline areas and why it’s important for growers to share their local knowledge.
