WINNIPEG, Nov. 25 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– City council elections in Hong Kong over the weekend saw an overwhelming 400 of the 452 seats won by pro-democracy candidates, with voter turnout up sharply from previous elections. After winning only 100 seats four years ago, the large swing in voter sentiment was generally seen as a political message against Beijing.

– A heavy response to anti-government protests in Chile over the past month has left thousands injured and at least 23 dead, according to reports out of the country.

– Over 14,000 sheep are dead after a cargo ship capsized in the Black Sea off the coast of Romania. All of the crew were rescued, but only 33 sheep, after the Queen Hind overturned for yet unknown reasons on Sunday.

– The Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-12 in Calgary Sunday evening, winning their first Grey Cup in 29 years. Winnipeg-born Andrew Harris was both the most valuable player and the most valuable Canadian, after scoring two touchdowns in the game.
