– So far three people have been killed and more than 30 were injured in suicide bombings in Uganda’s capital of Kampala on Tuesday. One bomb was set off near the country’s parliament buildings, while another was close to the city’s central police station. At this point no group has come forward to claim responsibility, but authorities believe the bombings were carried out by the Allied Democratic Forces, which is affiliated with ISIL. These were the third round of bombings to occur in Kampala in less than a month.

– During a three-hour video conference on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and United States President are said to have made some headway in reducing the tensions between the two countries. The two world leaders discussed a myriad of topics ranging from worsening trade relations, human rights, North Korea, Afghanistan, Iran, global energy, military buildup, climate change, and the COVID-19 pandemic. – Torrential rains in southern British Columbia that began on the weekend have led to a number of evacuations, including the entire town of Merritt, as well as throughout the Fraser Valley and on Vancouver Island. The Trans-Canada and Coquihalla Highways remain closed on Tuesday due to several washouts with hundreds of motorists needing to be airlifted by helicopter. In two days parts of B.C. received more than 250 millimeters of rain.
