– Five of the largest superpowers in the world released a joint statement on Monday pledging to work together to banish nuclear weapons. China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia and France, permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and all of whom have nuclear weapons, said in the statement, “A nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.” However, the statement also said, “As nuclear use would have far-reaching consequences, we also affirm that nuclear weapons — for as long as they continue to exist — should serve defensive purposes, deter aggression, and prevent war.”

– BlackBerry devices will no longer be supported starting Tuesday, according to the Canadian tech company. Devices running on the BB10 or BlackBerry OS platform will no longer function properly and internet access via Wi-Fi will not work. At its peak, 50 million BlackBerry devices were sold in 2011. Six years later, as iPhones and Android devices dominated the market share, BlackBerry stopped making smartphones with only 100,000 sold that year.
– Nutrien Ltd. president and chief executive officer Mayo Schmidt announced on Tuesday he was stepping down from his roles within the company. No reason was given for Schmidt’s resignation. He was appointed to the roles after Chuck Magro resigned in April. Ken Seitz has been appointed as interim chief executive.
