Global Markets: Erdogan re-elected in Turkey

  • Incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was re-elected in a runoff vote held over the weekend, securing 52 per cent of the vote. That compares with 48 per cent for his challenger, Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

 

  • Wildfires near Halifax have already burned several buildings and forced the mandatory evacuation of thousands of homes in suburban communities north of the city. No injuries were reported yet, with firefighting efforts underway.

 

  • Russia reportedly hit several Ukrainian air bases in overnight strikes, while Ukraine struck Russian industrial facilities. Another attack on Kyiv saw all of the Russian missiles shot down, according to reports.
