Rob O’Connor is one of Ag in Motion’s founding members and has been show director for the eleven-year history of the show. O’Connor took time out of his busy planning schedule to share what producers can expect this year from the outdoor farm show that features over 100 livestock exhibitors and many livestock-related events.
Since 2015 when the show began, how has the agriculture industry evolved and how will that be reflected at this year’s show?
There’s a reason Ag in Motion is known as the place to find out “what’s new” in agriculture every year. Advancements in production and AgTech are always celebrated here.

On Monday night before the show, we co-host a reception with industry and entrepreneurial companies in the sector to bring new ideas and products to the market. The Ag in Motion Innovations Program, presented by Conexus Credit Union, will highlight winners in six categories and those winners and finalists will be featured throughout the show with special signage.
Visiting the show is always a great place to get a pulse on what’s new, innovative and exciting in our industry.
Is one of the new events a livestock competition at Ag in Motion?
Yes, we are really excited this year to host a one-day Junior Cattle Show, presented by BMO, in Livestock Central on Tuesday, July 15, the first day of the show.
Visitors will watch young cattle enthusiasts (ages 6 to 21) share their livestock skills and compete for a chance to have their animal selected as one of the best at the show. It will be a wonderful event and one that visitors won’t want to miss.
On the other two days, visitors can watch demonstrations in the Livestock Central Outdoor Arena as stock dogs show off their amazing herd management skills.
Can you share a few must-see highlights for livestock producers or first–time visitors?
First time or return visitors should know that we have many themed areas that help them navigate the 100+ acres of this massive outdoor farm show.
It’s best to take several days to see it all, but if you have limited time, field demonstrations or the livestock handling demonstrations are great ways to see working equipment up close. We have dozens of crop plots growing onsite, too.

In Livestock Central, presented by KWS Hybrid Rye, we have over 100 exhibitors plus special livestock demonstrations such as our popular Feed Mixer Demonstration.

What are some key challenges livestock producers are facing today, and can they learn strategies for these at the show?
Ag in Motion has always been a great place to come and hear about how current events are impacting agriculture because this is where some of the industry’s leading experts and journalists gather once a year to share their knowledge.
This year, trade, markets, interest rates and input costs are affecting stability on the farm, and we’ll have experts at the event to discuss these topics.
The Ag in Motion website will have links to more information on speakers who will be at the show, and other social events that connect people for lively discussions about strategies to help weather these uncertain times.
Tickets can be purchased on the Ag in Motion website and our team can’t wait to welcome everyone to the show.
