Interim payments of between $10 and $30 per tonne are in the mail this week, the Ontario Wheat Producers’ Marketing Board announced Friday.
The board also released its estimates for total earnings from its 2007 pool program, which it expects will be $10.01 to $14.61 per tonne above the total payments (initial and interims) to date. The board said those final payments are “well above harvest prices in all classes.”
“Producers who put their wheat in the pool are receiving returns
that have exceeded the performance of many direct market sales,” said Larry Shapton, the board’s general manager, in a release.

Shapton said the board is pleased with the pool’s performance in 2007 “despite the comparatively low initial payment.”
The new interim payments provide another $10 per tonne for Pool B hard red winter wheat, raising total payments to date to $230.70 per tonne. The final estimates released Friday call for another $11.04 per tonne.
At the other end of the scale are interim payments of $30 per tonne for Pool C hard red spring and and Pool D hard red spring, bringing total payments to date to $292.59 and $288.70 per tonne respectively.
The board expects final total earnings for Pool C to reach $304.24 per tonne, up $11.65 from the total to date. Pool D is expected to reach $303.21 per tonne, up another $14.61.
