news moving markets globally.

CDN SHOPPERS FRUSTATED OVER COMPUTER GLITCH
Black Friday got off to a tough start for customers hoping to secure deals at Best Buy’s online store. A computer glitch took down the site late Thursday evening, preventing many shoppers from buying items that had been marked down for the big sale.
Just after midnight the company said “many” customers were now able to complete their purchases.

CHINESE STOCKS FALL LOWER AS PROBE WIDENS
Chinese markets are going through a volatile time right now as a probe by the country’s securities commission intensifies its examination of brokerage firms.
Leveraged trading is apparently the focus of the inquiry, as the Chinese government cracks down on groups that finance clients’ stocks purchasing through swaps.
Already, the commission has publicly investigated two of the country’s biggest securities firms.

INDONESIA LOOKS TO REDUCE EMISSIONS
Reports suggest Indonesia is looking to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 29% by 2030.

The country is expected to announce that goal at this week’s Paris climate negotiations.
However, critics say Indonesia must take immediate steps to curb the emissions being caused by the massive forest fires raging through the country’s peatlands. The fires have already pushed the country into the top ranks of global emitters.
Schools and airports across Southeast Asia have been closed by the fires, which were set within peatlands in an effort to expand palm oil production and other resources.

POTASH CORP. TO MAKE ANOTHER RUN AT GERMAN RIVAL?
German newsletter Platow is reporting that Potash Corp. is mulling over the prospects of another takeover bid of K+S Ag. The Berlin-based international resources company extracts and processes raw materials including salt and potash for agriculture, food and road safety.
On November 12 of this year, K+S wrote on its website, it was aware of a takeover effort by Potash Corp and would proceed accordingly.
