WINNIPEG, Dec. 23 (CNS Canada) – Feed wheat prices in Saskatchewan rose two cents last week. Bids are now going for C$3.45 to C$5.33 per bushel while in Manitoba they fell by one cent to come in at C$4.40 to C$4.99, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire.
China’s agricultural minister says the country will cut another 1.7 million acres of corn in 2017, according to various reports. Last season the country planted 90.8 million acres.
More details are emerging about the slowdown in wheat sales to Africa by Australia. Some analysts say the shortfall has been caused by a removal of subsidies to end-users in Africa. An article in The Weekly Times says Australia’s exports to African countries fell from 1.57 million tonnes in 2014-15 to 885,000 tonnes as of September of this year. Sudan abruptly eliminated all wheat imports from Australia after buying them for 20 years.
