WINNIPEG, Jan. 17 (CNS Canada) – Large old crop barley supplies and good new crop projections are cutting into barley prices in Australia, limiting farmer sales in the country, according to reports.
Armyworms are causing problems for corn crops in southern Africa, cutting into production prospects, according to reports out of the region. The armyworm causing problems now is native to the Americas, and only recently found its way to Africa.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were up on Tuesday, as excessive moisture in parts of Argentina cuts into yield prospects and acreage.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$165 to C$170 per tonne range as of January 13, which were relatively steady compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were also steady, at C$182 to C$187 per tonne in Lethbridge.
