WINNIPEG, Jan. 20 (CNS Canada) – Winter cereal crops in Russia, Ukraine, and Eastern Europe remain in relatively good shape, despite recent cold temperatures, as snow cover was sufficient for the most part, according to reports.

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade posted small gains on Friday, as solid export demand provided support.

The USDA reported weekly US corn export sales of nearly 1.4 million tonnes, which beat trade expectations. An additional sale of 126,000 tonnes to unknown destinations was also reported.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$165 to C$170 per tonne range as of January 13, which were relatively steady compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were also steady, at C$182 to C$187 per tonne in Lethbridge.
