WINNIPEG, Jan. 31 (CNS Canada) – Total world feed grain production in 2016 hit one billion tonnes for the first time ever, according to the recently released Alltech Global Feed Survey.
China intends to invest roughly US$88 billion over the next three years to improve its farmland and increase grain production, according to reports out of the country.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were up slightly on Tuesday, seeing a correction from Monday’s losses. Gains in crude oil and losses in the US dollar index contributed to the firmer tone.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$160 to C$170 per tonne range as of January 27, which were relatively steady compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were also steady, at C$178 to C$185 per tonne in Lethbridge.
