WINNIPEG, Feb. 2 (CNS Canada) – Forecasts calling for a record large Australian barley crop will also lead to record exports out of the country, according to a report from the US Department of Agriculture’s bureau in the country.

The USDA’s Canberra office pegged Australia’s 2016/17 barley production at a record 11.0 million tonnes, with exports forecast at 7.4 million tonnes.

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were down slightly at Thursday’s close, seeing a modest correction following recent gains.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$160 to C$170 per tonne range as of January 27, which were relatively steady compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were also steady, at C$178 to C$185 per tonne in Lethbridge.
