WINNIPEG, Feb. 16 (CNS Canada) – Nearly a quarter of all of the grain tested in Alberta this year is testing positive for fusarium head blight, according to a report from the Alberta Farmer Express. That’s well above the previous record for the province of 13.3 per cent. The percent of infected kernels in infected samples was also up.

Kenya is reportedly importing 450,000 tonnes of corn from Ukraine, making the country’s first corn imports in six years.

Chicago Board of Trade corn futures were down on Thursday, as the market saw a profit-taking correction following recent gains. Concerns over a possible Mexican ban on US corn imports remained a bearish influence in the background.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$152 to C$165 per tonne range as of February 10, which were down slightly compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were also down, at C$175 to C$183 per tonne in Lethbridge.
