Feed Grains: Sask feed barley bids soften

Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian
and world feed grains markets on Tuesday, February 21.
Prices for oats in Saskatchewan climbed two cents per
bushel overnight, according to the latest information from the
Prairie Ag Hotwire. Supplies are now going for at C$2.64-$2.87
per bushel.
Feed barley in Saskatchewan fell 10 cents overnight and is
now priced at C$2.26-$2.70 per bushel.
Warm weather is expected to make its way across Nebraska

to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Centre. If
the prediction holds true it means soil in the region will thaw
rapidly but moisture requirements for hard red winter wheat will
increase. A report by AgPro points out above-normal
precipitation is projected for the US northern plains.
According to UKRagroconsult, Brazil exported 18.847 million
tonnes of corn in 2016 which was 37.5 percent less than in 2015.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of
Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$155 to C$165 per tonne range
as of February 17, which were about two dollars weaker compared
to the previous week, according to the latest pricing
information from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices
were also a dollar or two lower, coming in at C$173 to C$182 per
tonne in Lethbridge.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade rose by one to
two cents per bushel on Tuesday, due to steady US exports and
some chart-based trading. Recent forecasts by a private company
in South America indicate the corn harvests in Brazil and South
America may be slightly lower than USDA projections.
