Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian
and world feed grains markets on Wednesday, February 22.
Prices for oats in Saskatchewan fell half a cent during the
past week, according to the latest information from the Prairie
Ag Hotwire. Supplies are now going for C$2.59-$2.82 per bushel.
Feed barley in Saskatchewan fell 10 cents overnight and is
now priced at C$2.30-$2.70 per bushel.

2016 to February of 2017 the country shipped out 4.65 million
tonnes of wheat.
Barley farmers in Alberta will qualify for a 21 percent tax
credit as long as they didn’t request a refund of their check-
off dollars, according to a government report. The credit is a
2016 Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) initiative.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of
Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$155 to C$165 per tonne range
as of February 17, which were about two dollars weaker compared
to the previous week, according to the latest pricing
information from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices
were also a dollar or two lower, coming in at C$173 to C$182 per
tonne in Lethbridge.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade rose one to two
cents per bushel, amid expectations for smaller US corn
plantings this year. However, South Korea’s decision to cancel
an order of 136,000 tonnes of soybeans from the US tempered the
advances.
