acres of cropland. The fires are raging in Colorado, Kansas,
Oklahoma and Texas. Low humidity, high temperatures and drought-
like conditions have created conditions favourable for the
development of future fires, according to officials.
An academic in North Dakota is sounding the alarm over the
number of corn piles lying on the ground. Ken Hellevang, an
engineer with North Dakota State University, says with
temperatures warming up much of the corn will be getting soaked
and likely need to go through a high-temperature grain dryer
before it is sold. He says the danger lies in how much

ground.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of
Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$152 to C$162 per tonne range
as of March 3, which was roughly two dollars weaker compared to
the previous week, according to the latest pricing information
from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices were the same
as the previous week, coming in at C$170 to C$180 per tonne in
Lethbridge.
CORN futures in Chicago declined four to five cents per
bushel on Thursday after the USDA hiked its prediction for
Brazil’s harvest to 91.5 million tonnes from February’s estimate
of 86.5 million.
