WINNIPEG, March 28 (CNS Canada) – Europe’s winter grain crops are entering the spring in relatively good shape, according to a report from the European Commission.
Soft wheat yields in the continent are forecast at 6.02 tonnes per hectare, which would be up 7.7 per cent from the previous year. France is expected to see considerable improvement, with the EC forecasting a 35 per cent increase in wheat yields in that country following a disappointing 2016 growing season.
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures were stronger on Tuesday, in relatively subdued trade as participants square positions ahead of the USDA’s Prospective Plantings report on Friday, March 31.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$158 to C$168 per tonne range as of March 24, which were up slightly compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were steady, at C$180 to C$185 per tonne in Lethbridge.
