Feed Grains: Argentine wheat exports soar

Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Tuesday, April 4.
Oat prices in Saskatchewan rose two cents overnight, according to the latest information from the latest Prairie Ag Hotwire Report. They are currently listed at C$2.27-$2.45 a bushel.
Feed wheat prices in Saskatchewan dipped five cents overnight and are now in a range of C$3.45-$4.70 per bushel.
The USDA estimates winter wheat quality in the US at 51 per cent good or excellent in its most recent report. That is down eight points from the same time last year.

According to grainboard.ru, the world corn harvest will be reduced by 29 million tonnes in 2017/18.
A new report is allaying fears in India that excessively hot temperatures will cut into wheat yields. The country’s Directorate for Scientific Research of Wheat, says that crops in the main-growing states of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are nearly ripe.
Data from the Argentine government pegs this year’s wheat harvest at 18 million tonnes. Between December to January of this year just under 4 million tonnes of wheat was shipped, an increase over last year of 23 percent. The government also says 130,000 trucks will be needed to move this year’s harvest to port.
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures finished four to five cents lower on Tuesday as traders took profits. Favourable weather conditions in the US plains added to the downside.
Feed wheat bids in the key cattle feeding area of
Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$179 to C$185 per tonne range
as of March 31, which was roughly a dollar weaker compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Feed barley prices were up seven dollars at the low end of the range, at C$165 to C$168 per tonne in Lethbridge.
