WINNIPEG, Jan. 2 (MarketsFarm) The Canadian dollar was slightly weaker Thursday morning, seeing some consolidation to start the New Year.
At 8:49 CST Thursday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7690 or C$1.3004 which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7699 or C$1.2988. The market was closed Wednesday for New Year’s Day.
The Phase One trade deal between the United States and China will reportedly be signed on Jan. 15, according to U.S. President Donald Trump. However, details on the agreement are still lacking.
Crude oil was holding steady in early activity.
There were no significant domestic economic releases.
The TSX was up by 82.87 points at 8:49 CST to sit at 17,146.30.
