WINNIPEG, April 22 – The Canadian dollar was stronger Wednesday morning, as a relatively weaker tone for the US dollar internationally provided some support.
At 8:59 CDT Wednesday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.8175 or C$1.2232 which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.8143, or C$1.2281.
With no significant domestic economic releases to start the day, the strength in the Canadian dollar was more of a function of the weaker US dollar than anything else.
Gains in crude oil were also somewhat supportive for the energy-linked currency.
The TSX was lower in early activity, down 43.70 points at 8:59 CDT to sit at 15,302.74.
