Canadian Forex Midday: C$ Down Ahead Of Budget

Winnipeg, April 21 – The Canadian dollar was lower against its US counterpart at midday Tuesday, as investors waited for the Federal government to unveil the budget.

The loonie was at US$0.8147 or US$1 = C$1.2274 at 11:50 CDT Tuesday morning.

A new survey says Canada’s housing market is the third most over-valued in the world compared to rental rates.

Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. has announced revenue for the first three months of 2015 was up 10 percent from last year.

On the commodity markets the April crude contract in New York dipped US$0.45 to US$57.43 a barrel. The April gold contract rose US$9.50 to US$1,203.20 an ounce.

At 11:50 CDT Tuesday morning, the Toronto Stock Exchange was down 73.91 points to 15,338.69.
