Confirm 240F, a crop insecticide for use against cabbage loopers, codling moth, European corn borer and other pests, now has a new Canadian distributor.
The Canadian wing of Arizona ag chem firm Gowan Co. said Monday it has picked up the Canadian crop protection marketing rights for Confirm from the product’s new owner and will start distributing it “immediately.”
Tokyo-based chemical firm Nippon Soda bought Confirm and its active ingredient, tebufenozide, from Dow AgroSciences effective March 31.
Gowan product manager Eric McEwen described the product in a release as “an excellent product for control of external lepidopteran pests early in the growing season.”

Confirm, he added, is “soft on most beneficial species and has a low impact on aquatic organisms.”
Confirm is registered for use against lepidopteran pests in crops including apples, cranberries, pears and greenhouse lettuce, peppers, tomatoes and ornamentals.
Controlled pests include cabbage loopers, codling moth, European corn borer, fireworm, green pug moth, oblique banded leafroller, sparganothis fruitworm, spotted tentiform leafminer and winter moth, Gowan said.
Confirm, McEwen said, fits well into integrated pest management programs as well as resistance management strategies.
Other brands Gowan handles in Canada include herbicides Fortress and Avadex, insecticides Imidan and Carzol and fungicides Gavel and Botran.
