Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health officials are investigating after a 14-year-old farm worker became trapped in potato conveyor machinery on a Carberry-area farm in western Manitoba Sept. 18.

RCMP say the girl apparently attempted to cross over the conveyor while it was in motion and slipped, which caused her to become entangled and trapped between the conveyor belt and motor support bracket.

She was removed from the machinery by emergency workers and taken to hospital where she remains with injuries to her lower body.
