Winnipeg, December 28 – Spot prices for No. 2 feed barley in Minneapolis are near US$2 per bushel, according to data from the United States Department of Agriculture as of December 28.
Demand for Australian feed barley is strong, reports out of the region say, as exporters are paying higher prices to fill their ships. On the other hand, Melbourne’s feed wheat prices are below the 20 year trend line.
Canadian corn exports are ahead of year-ago levels at 229,500 tonnes, as of December 18, which compares with last year’s 194,500 tonnes.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade ended about six to seven cents per bushel lower on Wednesday.
A generally stronger US dollar and spillover pressure from nearby grain markets had a bearish effect on values.
