Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian
and world feed grains markets on Monday, November 16.
– CBOT corn futures were little changed, November 16, with the December contract up half a cent at midday, at US$3.5875 per
bushel. Values drew strength from an Informa Economics report which lowered the 2016 corn acreage estimate to 90.1 million acres, down from last month’s estimate of 90.8 million acres.
– Crop scientists in Western Australia have been chosen to lead a new research project aimed at lifting yields in a variety of crops by about 50% in the next 20 years. The three-year, international project is set to begin in 2016, according to a report by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

– Cargill has officially opened its new Agri Purina feed mill plant in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. In a release, the company says the move reaffirms its commitment to growth in Korea’s feed industry. The mill can accommodate 870,000 tonnes of feed.
– Feed barley bids across the Prairies were generally in the C$3.50 to C$4.00 per bushel range as of November 13, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Feed wheat prices are in the C$4.75 to C$5.00 range.
