Feed Grains: Colorado wheat busts the bin

WINNIPEG, October 7 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, October 7.

– CBOT corn futures weakened slightly on Friday as ideas persisted that next week’s USDA report will point towards large yields. US exports also appear to be showing signs of dropping, according to an analyst.

– According to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, the 2015/16 Brazilian crop is closer to 30 million tonnes, than the previous estimate of 28 million tonnes.

– Minneapolis wheat futures traded higher again. Contract prices have shot steadily up over nine straight sessions due in part to quality issues with the Canadian crop.

– The wheat harvest in the United Kingdom is estimated to be 14.5 million tonnes, which is down 12 percent from last year. In 2015, the country produced 16.4 million tonnes.

– Yields in Colorado in 2016 averaged 48 bushels an acre, which is an all-time record, according to the USDA. The total production for the year was 105 million bushels.

– According to an official with Saskatchewan Agriculture, alfalfa brome is anywhere from C$80-175 per tonne.

– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of

Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$155 to C$165 per tonne
range as of October 3, which was slightly weaker than the previous week. Feed wheat prices were in the C$175 to C$190 range, which was roughly C$5 weaker than the previous week.
