Feed Grains: Prairie oat prices jump

Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian
and world feed grains markets on Thursday, April 6.
Oat prices in Saskatchewan rose 44 cents on April 5,
according to the latest information from the latest Prairie Ag
Hotwire Report. They are currently listed at C$2.23-$2.87 a
bushel.
Feed barley prices in Saskatchewan fell five cents last
week to a range of C$2.60-2.80 a bushel.
Grain exports in Argentina for 2016/17 could top 40 million
tonnes, according to government figures.

Corn exports from Brazil are falling. In March, the country
shipped 243,000 tonnes, which was less than half the amount
shipped in February.
Japan has canceled a tender for the purchase of 120,000
tons of feed wheat and 200,000 tons of feed barley due to a lack
of participants, according to the country’s agriculture
ministry.
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures finished two to four
cents lower on Thursday due to fund selling. Spillover losses
from wheat added to the downside.
Feed wheat bids in the key cattle feeding area of
Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$179 to C$185 per tonne range
as of March 31, which was roughly a dollar weaker compared to
the previous week, according to the latest pricing information
from the provincial government. Feed barley prices were up seven
dollars at the low end of the range, at C$165 to C$168 per tonne
in Lethbridge.
