WINNIPEG, Feb. 1 (CNS Canada) – Paraguay’s second-crop corn crop is expected to hit one million hectares, which would be in line with what was seeded the previous year, according to a report out of the country.
Russian grain exports are picking up, with 22.1 million tonnes of grain exported during the marketing year-to-date, as of January 25. That’s up from 21.9 million at the same point a year ago. Total Russian grain exports are forecast at 35 million to 37 million tonnes by the country’s Agriculture Ministry, which would be up from the 33.9 million tonnes shipped in 2015/16.

Romania, meanwhile, is shipping less grain this year, with only 658,000 tonnes of barley shipped during the marketing year-to-date, according to a report from UkrAgroConsult. That compares with sales of more than million tonnes at the same point a year ago.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were up on Wednesday, as record weekly US ethanol production, gains in crude oil, and South American production concerns all provided some support.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$160 to C$170 per tonne range as of January 27, which were relatively steady compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were also steady, at C$178 to C$185 per tonne in Lethbridge.
