WINNIPEG, May 3 (CNS Canada) – US cattle futures continue to post sharp gains on Wednesday, as blizzard conditions in key livestock feeding regions of the country earlier in the week reportedly killed thousands of animals.
Ukraine barley exports during the crop-year-to-date (which began October 1) of 15 million tonnes, are running about 11 per cent ahead of the previous year’s pace, according to reports out of the country.
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures were slightly firmer on Wednesday.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$149 to C$157 per tonne range as of April 28, which were down slightly compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were up slightly, at C$180 to C$190 per tonne in Lethbridge.
