WINNIPEG, March 30 (CNS Canada) – The United States Department (USDA) released its Prospective Plantings and Grain Stocks reports on Friday.
Corn stocks in all positions on March 1, 2017 totaled 8.62 billion bushels, up 10 per cent from the same time frame the year prior. Of the total stocks, 4.91 billion bushels were stored on farms, up 13 per cent from a year earlier, the USDA said.
Corn planted area for all purposes in 2017 is estimated at 90.0 million acres, down four per cent or four million acres from last year, the USDA said. As a result, Chicago Board of Trade corn futures advanced about seven cents per bushel.
Feed barley spot prices are hovering around C$2.30 to C$3.44 per bushel in Western Canada, according to data from Prairie Ag Hotwire on Thursday.
Feed wheat spot prices are hovering around C$3.30 to C$5.03 per bushel in Western Canada, Prairie Ag Hotwire said.
