WINNIPEG, May 1 (CNS Canada) – Snow and cold temperatures hit some key US winter wheat growing regions over the weekend, causing damage to crops as they start to head.
Up to a foot of snow was reported in parts of Kansas and Oklahoma. Meanwhile, cold temperatures in the northern spring wheat growing regions of the country were delaying seedings.
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures were stronger on Monday, as persistent concerns over seeding delays across the US Midwest provided support. Wheat futures in the US posted even larger gains, as the snow raised concerns over production losses.
