Global markets: China and US sign dairy deal

WINNIPEG, June 19 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.

– China and the US have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand US dairy exports, according to reports on Monday.

A number of US processors are now able to start exporting to China immediately.

More organizations are expected to get clearance moving forward.

– Real natural resource gross domestic product (GDP), or the volume of economic activity attributable to natural resources, increased by 0.4 per cent in the first quarter after edging up 0.2 per cent in the fourth quarter, Statistics Canada said in a report on Monday.

In comparison, GDP for the total economy grew 0.9 per cent, StatsCan said.
