– The COVID-19 pandemic remains the at the forefront of everything in the world, as the countries work to ‘flatten the curve’ and also deal with the economic fallout of the drastic social distancing measures underway.

– In Canada, Finance Minister Bill Morneau announced Thursday that emergency funds will be available within the next two to three weeks. The waiting period for employment insurance has been waived, with a C$82 billion emergency response package announced on Wednesday.

– Included in the Canadian emergency plan: a boost to Canada Child Benefit Payments, an extension of the tax filing deadline, and other benefits especially for workers not eligible for regular EI, including the self-employed.
