- An Israeli raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank left nine people dead on Thursday, with a 10th Palestinian killed in clashes elsewhere. The attack that Palestinians decried as a ‘massacre’ was the deadliest in two decades and sparked protests throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip. At least two rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel but were shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome air defence system. Meanwhile, Israeli forces retaliated with airstrikes on Gaza.
- Norway has reportedly found a ‘substantial’ amount of metals and minerals, including rare earth metals, on the seabed of its continental shelf and is now considering opening the area to deep-sea mining. Parliamentary approval is needed to move forward with development, with any resource extraction facing environmental concerns.
- Poland will send 60 additional tanks to Ukraine on top of the already-announced 14 German-made Leopard 2 tanks, according to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
