WINNIPEG, Nov. 24 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Health Canada has reportedly granted full approval to the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, marking the first major regulatory approval for the one-dose shot worldwide. The United States Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency use authorization for the J&J vaccine in that country.

– Weekly jobless claims in the U.S. fell to their lowest level in 52 years in the week ended Nov. 20, coming in at a seasonally adjusted 199,000, according to a report from the U.S. Labor Department. The new claims for unemployment benefits fell well short of economists pre-report expectations and were seen as sign of the recovering economy.

– Tensions are brewing between Russia and Ukraine, with both countries reportedly escalating military drills near the others border and neighbouring Belarus. Ukraine has claimed that Russia may be preparing an invasion, while Russia denies any aggressive intent.
