– Houthi rebels in Yemen were said to be responsible for an attack on an oil facility in Saudi Arabia on Monday. Several missiles and drones targeted the 400,000 barrel per day refinery in the Saudi port city of Jizan, about 40 miles from the border with Yemen. The Saudi military claimed it downed four missiles and six drones. Houthi rebels claimed their attack also struck the military installations in Jizan and the city’s airport.

– Flood alerts in eastern China were raised to their second highest level on Sunday as Lake Poyang, the country’s largest freshwater lake was said to be at its highest level ever. More than 8.7 million acres of farmland has been flooded, along with the destruction of over 28,000 homes, resulting in the deaths of 141 people so far this year in China. Presently 212 rivers have been placed on flood alerts.

– The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is expected to top 13 million on Monday, according to Johns Hopkins University. The university’s Coronavirus Resource Center website showed there were 12.9 million cases globally this morning, with nearly 570,000 deaths and more than 7.1 million recoveries. The United States leads the world with 25.6 per cent of reported cases, 23.7 per cent of the deaths and 14.1 per cent of the recoveries.
