WINNIPEG, Oct. 21 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Alberta Energy Minister Sonya Savage is scheduled on Thursday to release the final report of the province’s public inquiry into alleged foreign funding of anti-oil campaigns said to have targeted Alberta. The highly controversial inquiry led by Steve Allan ran for two years and submitted its report on July 30. The report alleges C$1.28 billion in funding came from outside Canada to help finance environmental initiatives. Of that, less than five percent was targeted towards the oilsands. As well, Allan previously informed several environmental groups that they did nothing wrong. The groups deemed the inquiry to have been a witch hunt designed to silence them.

– The BBC reported on Thursday that a number of countries allegedly pressured the United Nations to water down a crucial report on climate change. The allegations come a little more than a week before the UN’s COP26 climate summit. – The markets in China were said to be reacting positively to comments made by the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission on Thursday. The commission dismissed concerns that the Evergrande crisis on the credit profile of the land development sector. That came the day after Vice-Premier Liu He and China’s central bank deputy governor Pan Gongsheng stated the risks in the property market are controllable and financing is becoming normal.
