Global Markets: Ukraine accuses Russia of seizing convoy

– Ukraine accused Russia late Tuesday of seizing 15 aid workers who were providing aid to residents of the besieged city of Mariupol, which continued to suffer from land and air strikes. The Red Cross confirmed that a humanitarian convoy was unable to enter the city. United States President Joe Biden left for Europe on Wednesday where he will attend an emergency NATO summit in Brussels on Thursday. Before leaving, he told reporters Russia’s potential use of chemical weapons in Ukraine was “a real threat”.

– New details of a proposed dental care plan have emerged on Wednesday just one day after the Liberal government and the New Democrats reached a supply and confidence agreement in the House of Commons until 2025. The program would start with those under 12 years old in 2022 before expanding to include those under 18, seniors and persons living with a disability in 2023. Meanwhile, Moderna announced on Wednesday its vaccine is effective for children under the age of six and will ask regulators in North America and Europe to approve two small doses, as well as larger doses for older children.
