In October, the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association’s public and stakeholder engagement team launched a new and improved Beef Advocacy Canada, an online learning program designed to empower, equip and connect beef advocates.

The program is useful for anyone wanting to learn how to effectively communicate key consumer concerns about beef, but it could be a particularly great opportunity for senior youth groups. Senior 4-H clubs, university and college clubs, and any senior youth group with an interest in agriculture and food could consider encouraging their members to take this free training program. Upon completion, a digital certificate is provided to graduates and could be shared to demonstrate completion.

Through a series of five self-guided courses, participants will learn about the key concerns consumers have about beef and be equipped with the messages, tools and strategies needed to communicate in ways that resonate. The modern platform offers participants learning opportunities through video, short quizzes and interactive components that can be completed at the users’ own pace.

The Beef Advocacy Canada program consists of five courses with corresponding lessons. The courses include:

  • Production Practices and Animal Welfare
  • Beef and the Environment

To maintain engagement upon completion of the program, graduates will be offered continuing education webinars, a quarterly newsletter and future access to a private Facebook group where they can share advocacy ideas, struggles and successes.
