1420 feeders, 220 butchers and 150 bred cows through the ring this week at Killarney Auction Mart.
Top end steer calves have stayed reasonably steady. However, heifers and plainer cattle started to see bigger discounts. The volatility in the futures market, weather and volume of cattle moving has caused pressure.

The cull cow market has also slid as the week progressed, seeing cows fall close to a dime.
Bred cows are very dependent on quality.
We saw fancy young dispersal cows trade from $2500 to $2900. Older and bad tempered cows did stay out of the kill pen but not by a large margin.
The fall run does have a few weeks left but the end is coming into sight. It will be interesting to track the bred sales in the next month.

2516 calves sold this week to a good demand. Light run of yearlings, mostly open heifers . Next calf sale is Wednesday November 22nd at 10:00am.
