WINNIPEG, September 15 (CNS) – Canola contracts on the ICE Futures Canada platform were little changed at 10:40 CDT on Friday, as traders waited for fresh news about the state of the harvest.

“It’s that time of year where markets are evaluating a bit and chopping around,” noted a trader in Winnipeg. “There’s not a lot of powerful directions around right now.”

Rain across parts of Western Canada has delayed the harvest in certain areas.

However, weakness in soybeans and vegetable oil was bearish for canola.

The rain is expected to lift over the weekend in many areas and harvesting should continue.

About 9,000 canola contracts had traded as of 10:40 CDT.

Milling wheat, barley and durum were all untraded.
